The Advanced Professional Diploma in Applied Neuroscience for Counselling & Psychotherapy is a specialist live-online programme for counsellors, psychotherapists, students, coaches and allied helping professionals. It develops a structured, professionally bounded understanding of applied neuroscience, nervous-system regulation and brain-informed therapeutic practice, connecting theory directly with real therapeutic and helping contexts. WHAT YOU WILL STUDY Ten modules: Foundations of the Brain & Nervous System · Development, Attachment & Neurobiology · Stress Physiology & Autonomic Regulation · Memory, Learning & Emotional Processing · Trauma Neurobiology & Survival Responses · Neuroplasticity & Therapeutic Change · Emotion Regulation & Executive Function · Embodied and Somatic Interventions · Neuroscience, Relationship & Psychodynamic Meaning · Integration, Psychoeducation, Ethics & Scope. A psychodynamic strand runs throughout, drawing on Freudian concepts (unconscious conflict, defence, repetition, transference) and, where relevant, Lacanian ideas on language, desire and the Other — integrated alongside contemporary evidence-informed approaches. HOW IT IS DELIVERED Ten weekly live-online lecturer-led sessions via secure Zoom, Wednesdays 6pm–8:30pm (Irish time), starting 18 November 2026. Christmas break: 19 December 2026 to 8 January 2027 inclusive; sessions resume the week commencing 11 January 2027. Moodle supports self-directed reading, revision and assessment preparation. 80% attendance is required. ASSESSMENT Class attendance (10%), observed skills assessment (20%, mandatory, 80% pass mark), Moodle activity and lecture viewing (20%, mandatory) and six case studies across Modules 5–10 (40%). AWARD & ACCREDITATION 60 CPD credits. ICPS College is an accredited CPD provider with the CPD Standards Office (PDCD1110) and ICPHAA (EI22315). This is a CPD award: it does not confer a protected professional title, statutory registration, or authority to diagnose, prescribe or practise beyond your existing competence.
