The relationship between psychological experience and physical health is increasingly recognised across medical and therapeutic fields. The Professional Diploma in Psychosomatic Therapy at ICPS College explores this relationship in depth, equipping practitioners with the theory and skills to work with clients where physical and psychological presentations are intertwined.
Psychosomatic presentations are among the most complex in clinical practice. This diploma provides practitioners with a framework for understanding how emotional experience, stress, and trauma manifest in the body — and how therapeutic intervention can support recovery in both domains.
Programme Overview
The ten-module programme covers the history and theory of psychosomatic medicine, the neuroscience of the body-mind connection, stress, immunity, and chronic illness, somatisation and medically unexplained symptoms, body-based therapeutic approaches, and working ethically and collaboratively within multidisciplinary contexts. Sixty CPD credits are awarded on completion.
Who Is This Programme For?
This diploma is designed for counsellors, psychotherapists, nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and other professionals working with clients in whom physical and psychological presentations intersect. Prior professional training in a therapeutic or health-related field is expected.
Related Programmes
Practitioners often combine this diploma with the Professional Diploma in Neuroscience for Counsellors and the Professional Diploma in Trauma-Informed Psychotherapy for a comprehensive somatic and neurological training profile.
