EMDR-Informed Therapy: Introductory Training for Counsellors and Psychotherapists in Ireland

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) has emerged as one of the most widely researched approaches to trauma processing. The EMDR-Informed Introductory Programme at ICPS College offers counsellors and psychotherapists an introduction to EMDR principles and their integration into existing therapeutic practice.

This programme provides an introductory and integrative perspective on EMDR-informed practice. It is not a full EMDR accreditation training and does not qualify practitioners to offer EMDR as a standalone modality. Practitioners seeking full EMDR accreditation should pursue a comprehensive EMDR training programme recognised by EMDR Europe, EMDRIA, or EMDR All-Ireland.

What This Programme Covers

The programme introduces the theoretical foundations of EMDR, the adaptive information processing model, the EMDR protocol phases, bilateral stimulation, resource installation, and the integration of EMDR-informed techniques alongside other established therapeutic modalities. CPD credits are awarded on completion via live-online Zoom delivery.

Who Is This Programme For?

This programme is suitable for qualified counsellors and psychotherapists who wish to develop an understanding of EMDR-informed approaches and how they may complement an already-established integrative practice. It is introductory in nature and is not intended to replace comprehensive EMDR training.

Related Programmes

Practitioners interested in trauma-informed approaches may also benefit from the Professional Diploma in Trauma-Informed Psychotherapy, the Professional Diploma in Traumatology, and the Professional Diploma in Neuroscience for Counsellors.
