Suicide Intervention and Prevention Training Ireland: Professional CPD for Practitioners

Every counsellor, psychotherapist, and mental health professional will at some point work with clients who are experiencing suicidal thoughts. Competent, compassionate, and evidence-informed engagement with suicidal ideation is a core professional responsibility. The Professional Diploma in Suicide Intervention and Prevention at ICPS College provides a thorough, clinically grounded training in this critical area.

This programme equips practitioners with the risk assessment skills, therapeutic approaches, and ethical frameworks needed to work safely and sensitively with clients at risk of suicide.

Programme Overview

The ten-module programme covers the epidemiology of suicide in Ireland, risk and protective factors, risk assessment frameworks, therapeutic models for working with suicidal ideation, working with clients following attempted suicide, supporting families and significant others, self-harm and its relationship to suicidality, legal and ethical obligations, crisis planning, and practitioner self-care. Sixty CPD credits are awarded on completion.
